In 1920 Aunt Agathe made umbrellas and parasols in the old fashioned way in a shop in Paris. Two decades later, Guy de Jean, a young new wave stylist visiting Paris, met his future wife Christiane and gave birth to the Guy de Jean brand and style. The couple settled in a small village in the center of France “Donzy”, near Paris and the well-known villages of Pouilly-sur-Loire and Sancerre. In 1990, Mr. Pierre de Jean took over the management of the business to give it a more international dimension. His wife Catherine joined him very quickly.
The Living Heritage Company label was awarded to the company Guy de Jean in 2011 by Frédéric Lefebvre, Secretary of State in charge of Small and Medium Enterprises. He thus recognizes the rare, renowned and ancestral know-how of Guy de Jean, based on the mastery of traditional techniques, a real guarantee of quality. Guy de Jean is proud to be part of these French family businesses that share the values of the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant Label.
